Venezuelan Parliament Leader Denounces Destabilizing Plans

June 18, 2015

diosdado-cabello-mazoThe Head of the Venezuelan Parliament Diosdado Cabello denounced today opposition forces for attempting to sabotage primaries of the Unified Venezuelan Socialist Party (Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV)) by generating violence.

According to Cabello, the Venezuelan extreme right will activate a plan called the Soft Hit which includes actions on the streets on the 21st and 27th of this month. He also declared last night during his TV program that these demonstrations are linked to the opposition candidate María Corina Machado along with retired military officers.

The President of the National Assembly went on to explain that the demonstrations they are planning on June 21 are aimed to frustrate the activities being organized to celebrate the Battle of Carabobo and the Army, both on June 24.

The actions on June 27 are focused towards the sabotage of the internal elections of the PSUV. They will promote violence in high schools and universities in cities like Valencia, San Cristóbal, Maracay, Mérida, Puerto La Cruz, Los Teques and Caracas. The intention, Cabello said, is to sell the image of chaos in the country.

In addition they will have the ongoing economic support from the  Venezuelan Extreme Right and from overseas to finance these undermining activities.

The new strategy is to make prices of items such as sanitary napkins and school supplies higher. The other tactic is to withhold special foods from the market and to make them disappear. Cabello concluded his talk warning that this tactic is against the woman of Venezuela, especially mothers, in order to generate anxiety and tension.
