Network in Defense of Humanity-CUBA Condemns the Aggression against the Foreign Minister of Venezuela

December 17, 2016

We call on all the intellectuals, artists and social movements of the Network in Defense of Humanity to denounce the true nature of those, using typically fascist methods, have decided once again to plague South America with death, inequality and poverty.

The Cuban Chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity considers that:

  • The violent attitude of the Argentine police against the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodríguez in Buenos Aires violates diplomatic conventions, international treaties and the elementary rules of respect that co exists between Governments. Also, it constitutes an outrage to her personally and to the rights of the Venezuelan people to be part of bodies whose intent is to promote regional integration.
  • The decision of the undemocratic majority of the countries belonging to MERCOSUR to temporarily suspend Venezuela, attempts to strip this country of its legitimate right, which was defended in a firm and peaceful manner by its Foreign Minister, who was also assaulted by the repressive forces in Buenos Aires. This corroborates the intolerance to diversity and the mendacious and arbitrary nature of the Governments of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, together with the ambiguous conduct of Uruguay, whose approach to the process of the events related to the alleged exclusion of Venezuela, is increasingly perplexing and reprehensible,
  • The subsequent reaction of the Triple Alliance, which has used – without convincing arguments or evidence-, a new method of coup d ‘ état to achieve their goals. This is a plot whose evil purposes are verifiable and coincides with the strategies that the United States Southern Command and special services have designed and are being implemented in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

For all the reasons stated above, we condemn these actions, and stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela and with the attitude taken by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister to demand the right that corresponds to her country and her government in assuming the rightful Presidency of MERCOSUR.
