A terrorist attack struck Saudi Arabia’s Eastern city of Dammam after a suicide bomber tried to enter Imam Hussein (AS) Mosque, witnesses said, the second attack of its kind in a week.

A man from Civil Protection forces was killed when he tried to prevent the suicide bomber from reaching the building. Saudi interior ministry announced that three people were killed in the attack.

A witness said he was with his family near the al-Anoud Mosque when “a quick explosion” happened.

In the same context, ISIL terrorist group claimed the bombing in a statement which also “urged supporters to ‘cleanse’ Saudi Arabia from Shiite Muslims”.

A suicide bombing on May 22 in Imam Ali (AS) mosque in al-Qdeih village led to the martyrdom of 21 worshipers, including two children. Qdeih is located in Qatif governorate in Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

It is worth noting that Qdeih explosion was also claimed by ISIL terrorist group.
