Cuba: Caravan of International Youth Demand an End to the Blockade

As part of the activities organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), a Caravan against the Blockade was held today and extended from the 13 de Marzo Park to the Torreón de La Chorrera, in this capital city. The caravan was a planned activity of WFDY which has been convened here for a week with the final session taking place tomorrow.

Young people from different regions of the world are joined together to condemn the criminal blockade imposed by the government of the United States on the largest country in the Antilles.

Somer Rivas Rodríguez, member of the National Youth Directorate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, acknowledged the will of resistance and solidarity of the Caribbean nation, in spite of the limitations it suffers daily because of the genocidal policy.

Rivas Rodriguez pointed out that both his country and Cuba have something in common, and that is that they suffer the constant siege of imperialism.

Zulmit Rivera Zúniga, national secretary of the Youth of the Free Party of Honduras, described the youth as a signal of hope and a guarantee of a better future.

The delegate expressed the support of the Honduran nation to the Cuban people and insisted that solidarity must be materialized in concrete actions, such as this Saturday’s action in pursuit of the end of the blockade and the removal of Cuba from the list of sponsors of terrorism.

The provincial president of the University Student Federation (FEU), Luis Yoel González Méndez, pointed out that since the beginning of the week, different sectors of society were called upon to actively participate in this caravan.

Gonzalez Mendez highlighted the outstanding attendance of the student community, representing the historical commitment with the Revolution.

Leading the caravan were Meyvis Estévez Echeverría, second secretary of the National Committee of the Young Communist League (UJC); Raúl Alejandro Palmero, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the UJC; Raúl Alejandro Palmero, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the UJC.

On behalf of the WFDY, a wreath was placed at the statue of the National Apostle José Martí in the Parque 13 de Marzo.
