The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) -attached to the OAS- ignoring the results of the judicial process carried out on the occasion of the events, issued a report where, without providing a single piece of evidence, they have determined that agents of the Cuban government provoked the automobile accident in which Cuban “dissidents” Oswaldo Payá Sardiñas and Harold Cepero Escalante died in the province of Granma.
On the other hand, the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, during his speech at the third plenary session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States in Washington, added to the “farce” about the causes of death of both individuals, by supporting the IACHR document.
As Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla pointed out on the social network Twitter, “there is plenty of evidence on the causes of Oswaldo Payá’s death, as ruled by Cuban and Spanish courts”.
In July 2012, Angel Carromero, a Spanish citizen, deputy secretary general of the organization New Generations, of the youth movement of the conservative Spanish Popular Party (PP), and advisor to the Madrid City Council, and Swedish citizen Jens Aron Modig, leader of the Christian Democratic Youth League (KDU), linked to the Swedish right wing, traveled to Cuba with tourist visas.
Their mission was to seek out and finance members of the internal dissidence and to draw up plans against the Cuban government.
On July 22, the two European politicians were traveling in a car with Cuban counterrevolutionaries, Oswaldo Payá and Harold Cepero Escalante, when they were involved in a traffic accident near the city of Bayamo, the two Cubans died in the incident.
According to specialists, the vehicle was speeding at over 120 kilometers per hour, violating the speed limit of 60 kilometers established for that stretch of road, and braked suddenly on a slippery road without asphalt.
After a trial lasting several weeks, the Court sentenced Angel Carromero to four years in prison for reckless homicide in October 2012 and in December 2012, after four months in prison, the Spanish politician was authorized to serve the remainder of his sentence in his home country under an agreement between Madrid and Havana.
The then consul general of Spain in Cuba, Tomás Rodríguez Pantoja, described the trial held in the city of Bayamo as a “correct, clean and procedurally impeccable” process.
The Spanish Justice assumed the criteria of the Cuban Prosecutor’s Office, moreover, the sentence was accepted by Carromero of first instance without appeal, as did the Spanish Government when it applied the agreement between Cuba and Spain on the execution of criminal sentences.
What is Blinken’s support for the fallacy presented in the IACHR report?
Just two weeks apart, the U.S. Secretary of State tries to blame Cuba and present it before the world and the domestic opinion of his country as a country capable of committing extrajudicial executions and constituting a threat to hemispheric security, by affirming that the presence of a Chinese espionage center on the island is real.
The imaginative creations of the current U.S. politicians should rank among the most remarkable records of creative fiction ever, Chinese spy balloons, little green men on the border of Ukraine with Russia, Chinese bases in Cuba and now, ignoring all the evidence, they are reinventing a crime that never happened.
What will they come up with next ?, a military base of an extraterrestrial civilization planning to conquer the Earth, Ming the Merciless, incognito in Cuba armed with sonic weapons, ready to face Flash Gordon.
Anything goes in order to justify the criminal siege of the Cuban people, that is the real cause, not because they are ashamed of the suffering they cause and want to hide their “mistakes”, but because of the malevolent plan to tighten the siege without being condemned inside and outside the United States.
