Through a communique issued today, Bolivarian Venezuela expressed its resounding rejection to the joint announcement by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the Government of the United States, which indicates an increase of the military presence in the region.
The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, expressed in his account in the social network X, that such actions will become “the greatest threat to the stability of the Caribbean and Latin America”.
“Venezuela strongly rejects the joint announcement made by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the Government of the U.S., which account for an increase of the military presence in the region with the purpose of protecting U.S. energy companies, which becomes the greatest threat to the stability of the Caribbean and Latin America,” he wrote.
The text refers to the government of Guyana which “continues to refuse to enter into a direct dialogue with Venezuela to solve the territorial controversy”, and instead, made a pact with the government of the United States, through its so-called Southern Command.
The communique warns that the aforementioned Southern Command is carrying out “military operations in an area with enormous energy resources which are being illegally exploited by Exxon Mobil”.
Therefore, the Venezuelan Government alerts the International Community of Guyana’s dangerous maneuvers, which -it points out- “intends to escalate a conflict”.
Finally, it reiterates that on December 3, the Venezuelan people will make history a Popular Referendum, to continue protecting “their legitimate and historic rights over the Esequiba Guiana” region.
The following is the full text of the communiqué:
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, faithful to its Doctrine of Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy, strongly rejects the joint announcement made by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the Government of the United States, which shows an increase of the military presence in the region with the purpose of protecting US energy companies, which becomes the greatest threat to the stability of the Caribbean and Latin America.
President Irfaan Ali continues to refuse to enter into a direct dialogue with Venezuela to resolve the territorial dispute, as required by the Geneva Agreement of 1966, and instead makes a pact with the most aggressive military power in the history of humanity, which through its so-called Southern Command, has been carrying out military operations in an area with enormous energy resources, which are being illegally exploited by Exxon Mobil.
Venezuela alerts the International Community, and especially the Caribbean countries, of the dangerous maneuvers of Guyana to take place, which intend to escalate a conflict, motivated by the excessive financial appetite of its ruling class and its obfuscated refusal to comply with international norms, maintaining the exploration and exploitation of oil in a maritime area without delimitation with Venezuela.
The Venezuelan people will continue to mobilize, denouncing Guyana’s warlike position, and will make history on December 3, through the Popular Referendum, dictating the guidelines for action to continue protecting, in accordance with International Law, their legitimate and historical rights over the Esequiba Guiana”.
