“Since December 7, 2022, date on which she usurps the office of the Presidency of the Republic, Peru Libre does not recognize Dina Boluarte as a legitimate or legal president,” the party said.
Meanwhile the Somos Libres party issued its second motion of vacancy against the assumed Peruvian president for the case of the so-called Rolex watches, although it refers that the main basis are the murders of more than 70 Peruvian men and women during the protests between December 2022 and March 2023.
The motion “responds not only to the serious questions regarding the procurement of their Rolex watches, but fundamentally for the murders of more than 70 Peruvians during the protests in the south of the country, whose perpetrators are unpunished,” issued Peru Libre.
The Rolex watch scandal began with a raid of Boluarte’s home and the Government Palace, authorized by the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation, finding several expensive Rolex watches acquired for illegal personal gain.
Likewise, the formation declared that the vacancy motion is in accordance with the people’s clamor, genuine in its origin and its vindictive objectives, while adding that it is different from the “motion of the caviar sector”.
This motion, insists Perú Libre, “promotes vacancies and resignations with the purpose of perpetuating its power, safeguarding its power, protecting group interests and rearranging the correlation of forces in the Congress of the Republic”.
Contrary to what the Somos Libres coalition presents, it affirms that the other motion seeks to “continue to maintain control of the National Justice Board (JNJ), the Judicial Power of Peru (PJ), MG, the Attorney General’s Office (PGE), the Peruvian Nationalist Party (PNP), EP, the National Jury of Elections (JNE) and the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), who openly receive instructions from the Embassy”.
“Since December 7, 2022, date on which she usurps the office of the Presidency of the Republic, Peru Libre does not recognize Boluarte as a legitimate or legal president, due to the fact that her assumption is the result of a military-parliamentary and judicial coup”, Peru Libre specified.
Likewise, the party denies meeting with Dina Boluarte, as well as the “vote of confidence to her cabinets that went to Congress, nor will it do so with the next one”.
“From Perú Libre we have been pushing for Boluarte’s resignation since the beginning of her regime, because the position of the Constitutional Presidency of the Republic should never again be assumed through coups d’état”, they declared.
