The Colombian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that it “recognizes and will comply” with the arrest warrants issued by the ICC against Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant.
In its X account, the Colombian Foreign Ministry expressed, on behalf of the Colombian government, “its recognition and compliance with the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel and Yoav Gallant”, former Minister of Military Affairs of Israel, both “accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza and the West Bank”.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry reaffirmed in its statement the “commitment to peace, within and outside its borders” and reiterated its position “against what has been happening with the Palestinian people and the genocidal action” by the Israeli regime.
“The Colombian Government reiterates its firm conviction in the principles of multilateralism and an international order based on international law. Therefore, it respects and will abide by the decisions issued by the ICC and other bodies in charge of imparting justice at the global level,” he concluded.
For his part, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, also expressed in his X account his support for this decision of the international court, which condemns the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by both officials of the Zionist regime.
“We accept the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Mr. Netanyahu and Mr. Gallant,” Petro wrote in X.
The warrant against Netanyahu and Gallant is as criminally responsible and co-perpetrators of war crimes from October 2023, including “the use of starvation as a method of warfare and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution and other inhumane acts” committed in the Gaza Strip.
The ICC Pre-Trial Chamber issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant on Thursday, pointing to them as those most responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity, committed in the Gaza Strip since October last year.
