The Venezuelan government has given away 14 million toys to children for the Christmas holidays

The nights in Venezuela are a spectacle of red, green and yellow lights. The cities are decorated and embellished since October 1st, date on which the Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro announced the early arrival of Christmas to “give joy to the Venezuelan people,” after the violence unleashed by the ultra-right following the election results of August 28, which gave the victory to the Bolivarian leader.

Whoever walks the streets of Caracas at this time of year will not find a hint of those days of unbridled violence, quickly neutralized with the action of the government and the unconditional support of its people. Today, the parks and squares of the capital are meeting points for families, children, young people, and pets.

Red and green garlands decorate every corner of the city. There is a lot of music, dancing and peace. It is common to find dozens of people of all ages dancing salsa in the Plaza Simon Bolivar, in the heart of Caracas. Free concerts and music festivals are also part of the year-end festivities, bringing hope to families on the eve of a 2025 that promises to bring stability and development.

The embellishment of the country’s cities is not the only effort the government has made for its people during these days of celebration. This Tuesday, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez announced that the Venezuelan Government gave away fourteen million toys throughout the country as part of the Happy Christmas 2024 plan.

“We close this 2024 with a positive balance and the hope for a better future. Let’s celebrate this Christmas in national unity, in peace and harmony, holding each other in family,” Rodriguez expressed through her official Telegram account. “Despite the difficulties and the U.S. blockade, President Nicolás Maduro has brought a smile to all the children of Venezuela,” she added.

In Bolivar, a southern state bordering Brazil, 466,998 toys were delivered to hospitals, according to Governor Angel Marcano. Likewise, in Anzoategui state, in the east of the country, the government delivered more than 500,000 toys, while in Portuguesa, in the west, another 300,000 toys were delivered, according to official TV station VTV.

The Local Supply and Production Committees (CLAP), created in early 2016 by the Venezuelan government as a mechanism for food distribution, have also played an essential role this Christmas. Throughout these last months, the government has supplied more than 7.5 million Venezuelan families with food products, 95 percent of them domestically produced.

The CLAPs have prioritized the distribution of food packages for the elderly to guarantee social welfare and comprehensive care. Deliveries, which have been delivered through the Ministry of People’s Power for National Commerce, included rice, oil, milk, eggs, grains, chicken, meat, flour, sugar, vegetables, among others. These deliveries seek to cover the basic needs of the community and improve their economy.

“These actions show the commitment we have with the welfare of citizens, especially the elderly, as we strengthen the planning and delivery of food for the most vulnerable communities,” the Minister of People’s Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas detailed.

Venezuela, a country besieged by the hostile policy of successive U.S. administrations, leaves no one behind. “In the face of the destabilizing actions of the opposition, and the fury of the imperial north, the government defends the protection of the most vulnerable, and makes every effort to ensure that there is not a single unhappy child and that families do not lack food in these days of celebration of life, unity, and the courage of the Venezuelan people,” the president stated.
