Graciela Ramirez
Resumen Latinoamericano had a part of the program of the 4th edition of the Coloquio Internacional Patria (Homeland International Colloquium) which took place in Havana from March 17th to 19th.
Graciela Ramírez, director of the Cuban bureau of Resumen explained the work carried out by the Argentine counter-hegemonic media for over 37 years of challenges in the fight against media terrorism.
Directed by the journalist Carlos Aznárez, it has correspondents and collaborators in several countries: Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Peru, Venezuela, Uruguay and in the United States Resumen has news and analysis in english organized by Bill Hackwell; there are also correspondents in Europe, Spain and Italy; and the Middle East. Its aim is to practice left-wing journalism that reflects the truth hidden by the mainstream media, the struggles and resistance of our peoples.
The newspaper is published both digitally and in print, as well as the radio programs and Resumen Latinoamericano TV from Buenos Aires. Another field it addresses is the production of audiovisual documentaries, where the Cuban correspondent holds titles of works that are essential for today’s communicational battle.
Support for the various struggles of the Third World against capitalism, imperialism and patriarchy has marked the editorial line of this anti-imperialist communication platform, which is against all forms of colonialism and the new forms of fascism and neo-fascism.
The constant denunciation of the genocide in Palestine and the aggressions in Lebanon are today the focus of much of the attention of Resumen, by denouncing the extermination, massacres, ethnocide and genocide carried out by the occupying Israeli forces with the support of the United States.
Ramirez denounced the manipulation of the media narrative in which war criminal and child murderer Netanyahu is presented as the “government of Israel”, while the representatives of Venezuela and Cuba are referred to as “dictators”.
She explained that the origins of Resumen and its director Carlos Aznárez are closely linked to Rodolfo Walsh when, in the midst of the military dictatorship in Argentina in the 1970’s, they created the Clandestine News Agency -ANCLA-.
Amongst its current and consistent collaborators, Resumen Latinoamericano counts on the Italian writer Geraldina Colotti, the Cuban writers, journalists and researchers Raúl Capote, Hedelberto López Blanch, José Luis Méndez, Maribel Acosta, Liset García, Octavio Fraga, Flor de Paz, Katiuska Blanco, José Ernesto Nováez, Alejandra García Elizalde, Ana Hurtado and the cartoonist Adán Iglesias, amongst others.
The Resumen documentaries have been made by María Torrellas, Hernando Calvo Ospina, Roberto Chile, Syara Salado Massip, Víctor Villalba, Iriana Pupo, Yaimi Ravelo, Daniel Chile, Sergio Eguino Viera, Osmany Beato and Daylen Vega.
Taking the example of ethics in journalism, militancy, audacity and resistance of Rodolfo Walsh, Graciela urged people in this event of Patria to work tirelessly and collaboratively, beyond the difficult circumstances that Our America and the Global South are going through.
