Cuba commemorates Palestinian Land Day and denounces the extermination in the eyes of the world committed by the state of Israel with the complicity of the United States and the Western world.

The Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) hosted the political-cultural event where Fernando González Llort, president of the organization and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, said that the crimes of Israeli Zionism and the genocide of the Palestinian people “is an open wound in the history of humanity.”

This is not a war, it is extermination in the eyes of the world, it is the same horror of fascism that we believed defeated in the 20th century but which is today being repeated with the cowardly complicity of the US government and its allies. Freedom is not negotiable, either we unite to stop this massacre or humanity will have failed,” the president of ICAP denounced.

The event was attended by Teresa Amarelle Boué, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Emilio Lozada García, head of the Department of International Relations of the Party’s Central Committee, Majed Abu Al Hawa, chargé d’affaires of the Palestinian Embassy in Cuba, Puerto Rican independence leader Julio Muriente, the Palestinian Embassy, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Cuba, Palestinian students, members of Together for Palestine, the International Committee Peace, Justice and Dignity and friends in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Palestinian Land Day commemorates the March 30, 1976 when Palestinians living in Arab cities within Israel held a general strike to demonstrate against the Israeli government’s control of their lands and six Palestinians were killed by Israeli police while injuring many more.

The Land Day protests took place in the context of the brutal aggression of the occupying entity Israel, which on March 18 unilaterally ended the ceasefire, killing more than a hundred Gazans a day, who are being kept under siege by cutting off the electricity supply, which in turn causes a lack of drinking water and prevents the entry of humanitarian aid.

The genocide of Palestine perpetrated by Israel and the United States exceeds the limits of horror and barbarism while the people and the Heroic Resistance continue to cry out to the world for the inalienable right to their land.

The day will continue tomorrow with the commitment of the youth in the planting of trees as a symbolic expression of the brotherhood of Cuba and Palestine.
