Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez spoke out on his various social media accounts on Tuesday, June 17, about the tense situation in the Middle East, reaffirming Cuba’s commitment to global peace and nuclear disarmament.
In his message, he stressed that the only sustainable path toward true international stability is the total elimination of nuclear arsenals.
Díaz-Canel’s statement comes amid growing global alarm following the recent Israeli attack on targets in Iran, which has heightened geopolitical tensions in an already deeply troubled region.
In line with this position, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla denounced Israel’s military aggression on social media, calling it a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law.
Rodríguez Parrilla also warned of attacks on Iranian civilians and media, criticizing the “double standard” of Tel Aviv’s allies, who, he said, support this new crime with their silence.
The foreign minister added that the “Zionist regime” acts with total impunity, ignoring international norms governing the legitimate use of force.
Both leaders agree on the urgent need to strengthen multilateralism, reject the policy of blockades, and promote an international order based on equity, respect for sovereignty, and justice. Cuba, historically committed to active diplomacy and the defense of peace, once again stands as a critical voice against abuses that threaten collective security.
This statement also reflects growing international concern about the humanitarian consequences of a possible escalation of war in the Middle East, which could have devastating effects on a global scale.
