America’s hatred towards Russia is old news. Since the Cold War years, successive White House administrations have allocated billions of dollars to form Russophobes, spread false information, and discredit the European giant before the international community. However, in recent months, Washington’s impetus against that country has gained new strength over a conflict that should be no business of the White House to involve itself in.
Since last November, Joe Biden’s administration started ceaseless rumors of an “imminent military invasion” by Russia into Ukraine without any basis, which is a claim refuted to exhaustion by the Kremlin.
These European countries are back in the news due to “Washington’s collective hysteria,” as Cuba labeled the recent erratic attitude of the White House against Russia, which could lead to a devastating war.
Border tensions between the two European countries are not new. They date back to 2014 when the United States and other North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) nations supported a coup in Ukraine and applauded the coming to power of right wing nationalists.
Last week, several corporate media outlets of the U.S. ruling class and other Western powers pointed out that Moscow would invade Ukraine on February 16. The British tabloids The Mirror and The Sun went much further, setting the exact time of the Russian attack for that day at 3:00 local time.
The invasion didn’t happen. President Biden, NATO’s highest leadership, and some European rulers are still waiting for shots and bombs to be fired and insist on new lies about a delusional invasion. Nevertheless the US is dangerously fanning the flames towards a war in the region.
The position of our northern neighbors is not surprising, especially for Cuba, the besieged and blockaded Caribbean island, which is accustomed to U.S. foreign interference policy.
“We strongly reject the propagandistic and communicational hysteria unleashed by the U.S. government against Russia,” Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez said categorically.
The Cuban official also rejected the West’s “unilateral and unjust sanctions” against Moscow and criticized the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization towards Russia’s borders. Just today Biden announced new sanctions against Russia while claiming that US troop movements were purely defensive.
Rodriguez’s statements followed the visit to Havana of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov last Saturday. Amid the fiercest media campaign against Russia and Cuba, the governments of both countries affirm that their mutual support will continue intact.
Cuba and the rest of the world know that the United States is using Ukraine as a weapon in its information war against Moscow. It is no secret how much money Kiev receives from Washington in exchange for anti-Kremlin propaganda.
U.S. Journalist Alan Macleod, from the MintPress News, claimed that the U.S. government has spent $22 million on waging an information war against Russia in Ukraine and abroad.
The U.S. strategy to get the world to turn its back on Moscow will not work. This U.S. operation seeks to divert attention from its many problems and is a desperate attempt to revive its rapidly declining dominance in the world. They will not succeed in their purpose, as misleading public opinion is becoming increasingly difficult.
