There are feelings that are inseparable from human beings. No matter the place, the historical moment or their age. They will always be there. It is something that, in spite of the attempts of women and men for the improvement of their species and for progress, has not been annihilated.
People are endowed with great values: love, compassion, altruism, dignity… all of them are seen in the family, learned around you, and worked to preserve them. The socialist system puts them at the center of its task so that a new, free man can emerge; stripped of his chains.
But every light has its darkness; isn’t that how they say it?
In spite of all those good things we harbor, there are also completely opposite feelings and attitudes that destroy people, societies and nations. Such as frustration and hatred. They do not let you live. They corner you, blind you and make you a dysfunctional human being.
We have been able to observe this in the past few days in the United States.
Let’s start from the beginning:
At the UN in New York the world witnessed the presence of Cuba, the solidarity of its friends, the visit of its President Miguel Diaz Canel and his team who went to different important places interacting with different personalities. It was the continuation of Fidel’s legacy inside the country that has blocked Cuba over all these years. But Cuba in New York carried with it the most powerful weapon in the world: the truth.
No one can dare to deny that it was a resounding success. Look at it from any angle, it was.
I have seen acts of bravery throughout my life. All my years I have seen fighting people, people committed to injustice, survivors in my country, historic moments of Fidel. But what I saw the other day on the streets of New York took my breath away. To see the Cuban president walk out on the streets of New York and join the group of people shouting for the suspension of the blockade, to be there with them, with his head held high, without fear… is something that will go down in history.
It was as if Fidel was there among them all.
And we all saw him. The international community saw him. Cuba was loved and acclaimed wherever he went.
Then, as always, days later and with the cowardice that has always characterized them, those who operate in the darkness of night appeared. Those who do not live, do not breathe, do not dream. Those who do not enjoy life. Those who are driven by a continuous frustration that has been eating them inside (and outside) for years. We cannot deny that bad feelings, bad acts and perversity destroy. It is enough to take a look at the faces of the terrorists Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch in their last years of life.
The current ones are not very different, or not different at all. They have been trying for years to attack a people, the one that gave them life, education, culture and identity. In all sorts of ways; supporting the blockade, annexing themselves to the world’s right wing; with terrorist attacks.
Have they achieved anything? No. They only expose themselves to the world in each failed attempt as to who they really are. People who kick in the teeth. People who do not overcome a truth, people who bite the hand that feeds them to kiss the boot of an empire that when it feels like it has stepped on them, steps on them and will continue to step on them; only to bring them out of their holes when needed.
The attack on the Embassy in Washington this past week was the culmination of so much hatred and frustration that these anti-Cubans have had to contain in these days solidarity.
In order to be noticed, they had to leave their note of stench. It could not be of color. Those who move in sewers reproduce what they “suckle”.
Truly, it is something we are not surprised about. There have been so many attacks on Cuba. There has been so much impunity for these criminals on the part of the United States. Is it possible to live a life with so much impotence? You can live, of course you can live. Just like the vultures and hyenas that feed on carrion. Whether that is life is another matter.
It is the U.S. government that is responsible for the fact that this terrorist who committed the act is not in prison at this moment. Where is he? Are they still looking for him? Is this a Groucho Marx movie?
The United States has Cuba on its whimsical list of countries sponsoring terrorism. And here comes a murderer, because he could have killed people, he carries out an attack against the Cuban Embassy, a terrorist act right in the capital of his own country, and so far nothing has been done.
There are things that cannot be understood, because of course the government of this North American country, has conducted massacres throughout the planet, its plundering of natural resources, its abuses and other “expertise”, cannot be understood.
It only accuses and condemns. And continues to do so and show it to the world so that the voice reaches every corner of the planet.
It is a moral obligation of the people of the world, the human beings, of good-hearted people to demand the exclusion of Cuba from this list. This island is nothing more than a victim for many years of terrorism and complicity of all those who silently support and finance it. This island, instead of playing the role of victim, stands up before the world and shows dignity. It puts its chest in front of the bullets. And it faces the future with courage every day.
When it is needed, it goes to the places to help, it responds without being called.
We cannot ask for pears from the elm tree, intelligence from the rat or gold from the landfill.
Every day more and more are joining the truth, not only to this cause.
The rest, the haters. Is there a worse cross to bear than to wake up every morning and have to live those lives?
Meanwhile, these people here, continue to stand up and fight for their sovereignty and freedom day after day.
Remember that.
