Cuba Denounces: United States Ratifies its Status as a Sponsor of Terrorism

By Raul Capote Fernandez on July 9, 2024

The nation that abrogates itself the right to judge who is a terrorist and who is not, according to its geopolitical interests, determining sanctions and incorporating countries to its illegitimate lists on the sponsorship of that scourge in the world, has just ratified its true position on the matter.

Reiterating events and stories that have been taking place since 1959, since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, an individual based in Miami Florida, USA, Ardenys García Álvarez, carrying arms and ammunition, illegally landed on the north coast of Matanzas, with the purpose of carrying out violent actions on the Island.

Let us recall that, in December 2023, the Cuban government published the list of persons and entities sponsoring terrorism against Cuba. Two days later, the neutralization of a new recruitment plan to carry out violent actions, conceived in the United States, was reported.

As the special program presented by Cuban TV, Noticiero Estelar on the evening of Monday, July 8, showed, Ardenys Garcia, after his military training, arrived illegally in Cuba in a JetSky, registered in Florida.

After he infiltrated Cuban territory, he began to carry out the activities for which he was trained by his boss Willy Gonzalez, a character well known by the FBI and Cubans for his violent actions and rabid rants on social networks.

The terrorist in question carried out recruitments in Cuba, made target studies, planned to storm military units, tried to organize a clandestine armed movement and to carry out sabotage to the economy.

We are in the presence of an extremely serious crime, but nevertheless it is not a novelty, against the largest island of the Antilles; no the economic, commercial and financial blockade and terrorism are a substantial part of U.S. policy against Cuba.

According to data from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, terrorist acts committed by the US government have caused 3,478 deaths and 2,099 disabled people on the island since 1959.

How can we forget the sabotage of the steamship La Coubre, the assassinations of literacy teachers Conrado Benitez, Manuel Ascunce and other Cuban children, youth and peasants committed by armed gangs organized by the CIA in the 1960s.

Our historical archives keep the memory of more than 600 attempted assassination attempts against Fidel Castro and other leaders of the Revolution, attacks on fishing boats and merchant ships, bombings with white phosphorus against civilian populations and sugar cane fields.

We will always remember the abominable sabotage against a Cubana de Aviación plane in Barbados on October 6, 1976, the introduction of the dengue epidemic that killed 101 children in 1981, the bombs placed in hotels in the 1990s and the assassinations of Cuban officials abroad.

The pirate attack on the peaceful town of Boca de Samá, the strafing of our hotels from speedboats, the bombs in the cities, the burning of movie theaters and schools, the biological warfare that has caused so much damage to our economy, are acts that clearly mark a history of terrorism organized and financed by the White House.

Washington must respond to Cuba’s calls to cooperate, confront and stop terrorist plots. The culprits must be brought to justice as established by international law. Cuba awaits answers.
