In the continuity of the one that took place last April, the Venezuelan government confirmed that next Sunday the process of popular community elections will take place, in which the priority projects for each community will be prioritized.
It was President Nicolás Maduro himself who announced the consultation in a working meeting at the executive headquarters. Regarding the consultation, the President stated that “it represents a fundamental step to strengthen participatory democracy and self-management in Venezuela”.
The re-elected President emphasized that it is about “Elections, democracy, participation, freedom, peace, progress, improvement, perfecting our system”, said Maduro.
He also informed that the elections will be held in 4505 communal circuits, which group 49,000 communal councils, with the participation of approximately 1,500,000 spokespersons.
The President emphasized the importance of the elections as a mechanism of direct and popular democracy, which he called “the organic expression of the constitution and the laws, of real, true and direct democracy”, he stated.
Maduro affirmed “Venezuela has its own model of democracy, we are building it, we do not accept imposition, interventionism, nor that anyone puts their filthy hands in our beloved and beautiful country. Venezuela has Popular Power. Venezuela has a Constitution, Venezuela has laws and on August 25 the people will be there voting”.
The President reiterated his commitment to continue strengthening the construction of a democratic, social, just and lawful State.
Finally, he affirmed that “we have to advance towards a democratic, social State, of justice and of law. In Venezuela there is a social, democratic State, of justice and Constitutional law, our Revolution was born with a constitution in its hand, in its heart”, he concluded.
He reiterated that in the nation “democracy is being built and will continue to be strengthened, but the democracy established by the Constitution, our model, not the model of bourgeois democracy, representative, puppet, that the West and the capital wants to sell as the only model”.
“Our project was not imported from anywhere, it is of our own roots and we did with Commander Chávez and the people to give birth to this beautiful project, we carried it through all its stages, we have managed to overcome all conspiracies, all coups, threats, all sanctions, all betrayals and we have overcome, betrayal upon betrayal, threat upon threat, because we are for real, we Bolivarians, we Chavistas have a real project, of deep roots”, he defined.
