Declaration of the Network in Defense of Humanity on September 29, 2024 from Havana
The Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity raises its voice for Peace and against the fascist genocide carried out by the Israeli regime, supported by imperialism and the barbaric silence of its allies.
A few minutes after the fascist criminal Benjamin Netanyahu declared in the 79th United Nations Assembly that “Israel wants peace, Israel longs for peace, Israel has achieved peace and will achieve it again”, the F35 fighter planes carried out a new and brutal bombing of Beirut, destroying several buildings, leaving wounded and dead. Israeli aircraft attacked the densely populated southern suburbs of Beirut. The brutal toll of the week amounted to almost 700 deaths in Lebanon, the number of displaced persons reached 95,000, according to UN data, and the number of wounded persons is already in the thousands. In the early hours of September 28, the bombings continued and this murderous escalation does not seem to stop.
At the UN, dozens of countries withdrew their representation in the presence of the Zionist leader, among them Iran, Yemen, Jordan, Palestine, when the representative of death entered the podium. It was not only a speech full of his repeated lies and an almost unoccupied hall, but it was also full of fatal threats: “There is no place in Iran where the long arm of Israel cannot reach. And the same goes for the Middle East,” he said.
It is the time of the people, as Gustavo Petro expressed, in the face of the inability of governments to stop this barbarism. Humanity is being murdered in the Middle East. The use of prohibited weapons of war, the forced displacements, the massacres of children, women and population are wounding the soul of humanity.
It is not a religious conflict, nor a confrontation between armies. It is the brutal occupation that has been going on for 76 years, and the colonial expansion of a terrorist entity such as Israel, with all the material and arms support of the United States against the original peoples of Palestine and now Lebanon.
Together with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel “we condemn the cowardly selective assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, secretary general of Hezbollah, as a result of the attack perpetrated by Israel against residential buildings in the southern suburbs of Beirut”.
We support in all its terms the denunciation of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry and the government of Nicolás Maduro.
In its communiqué it expresses its condemnation in the strongest terms, “for the attacks perpetrated by ‘Israel’ in and around southern Beirut and the assassination of Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah”.
The government of President Nicolas Maduro warned that this bloody operation of the Zionist regime against unarmed people in several populations of countries in the region, continues to show the face of barbarism led by Israel.
“Israel acts in alliance with the United States through false peace negotiations and deceitful and endless diplomatic maneuvers, while orchestrating and executing macabre plans to murder.”
In the message they “conveyed to the brotherly Lebanese people the deep feelings of solidarity, brotherhood and human commitment in the face of this difficult circumstance”.
To stop the barbarism of Zionism, fascism and its various expressions is to defend Peace in the Middle East and the whole world.
