From the Continental Day for Democracy and Against Neoliberalism on November 14, 2024 from Buenos Aires
We express our solidarity with the Cuban people, who once again are facing the devastating consequences of a hurricane, in this case Hurricane Hurricane Rafael, which has caused power cuts in has caused power outages in several provinces of the country.
The reconstruction of Cuba’s electrical system is made impossible by the U.S. economic blockade, which has been in place for more than six decades, which has limited the country’s access to essential resources and technologies.
The exacerbation of the blockade makes it impossible to quickly reestablish vital services such as electricity, deepens shortages, which makes it difficult to meet the needs of the Cuban people, especially in the western part of the country.
We join in the resistance of the Cuban people who, even in the face of the aggressions of U.S. imperialism and its allies, continues to demonstrate remarkable strength and unity.
We demand a concrete and material action from the governments that have been against the blockade to enable forms of cooperation for the recovery of the island’s vital infrastructure.
That the votes in the United Nations against the criminal blockade be transformed into direct material solidarity with the Cuban people.
In the same way, we call on all social organizations and people in solidarity with Cuba to continue denouncing the aggression of the United States and its allies.
We know that we are facing a difficult scenario, especially after the election of Donald Trump, which will surely energize the counterrevolutionary forces to stimulate movements of destabilization and force a change of government in Cuba.
These are complex times for the Cuban and Latin American people.
Our solidarity remains, today and always.
Down with the blockade! Down with the strangulation of the Cuban people by the United States and its allies!
Continental Day for Democracy and against neoliberalism.
