In the province of Camagüey, thousands of Cubans gathered yesterday in Plaza de la Libertad to express their rejection of the recent accusations by the U.S. government against Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.
The event was presided over by the region’s top officials, including Walter Simón Noris, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the territory; Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, deputy prime minister of the Republic; and Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia, provincial governor.
During the open forum, representatives from different social sectors raised their voices in defense of the Revolutionary Government’s statements. On behalf of healthcare professionals, Dr. Roberto Alejandro Carrazana Carballo described the U.S. Administration’s actions as a despicable attack on the legacy of the Cuban leader.
The doctor denounced the impact that the intensified blockade has on healthcare services and reaffirmed the ethical commitment of healthcare workers to seek alternatives in the face of daily shortages.
For his part, Yoandrys Ruíz Villalón, first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the PCC in Camagüey, emphasized that the revolutionary process is sustained by the collective effort of a people who do not yield to external pressures.
The speakers agreed that the continuation of the country’s projects, inspired by the legacies of figures such as Fidel and Raúl Castro, constitutes the main response to U.S. policy. The rally concluded with a call from local leaders to maintain resistance and national unity under the slogans of defending sovereignty.
