Monday marked eight years since the physical departure of the eternal Fidel Castro. From the steps of the University of Havana, Cubans — especially young people — paid tribute to the Commander, as a sign that his legacy remains here, in each of the people present and in so many others throughout Cuba and the world. Nicaragua a threat? with the GDP of a small US city?
In the dying days of his administration, President Biden must have needed a reminder by his officials on November 22. He had to decide whether Nicaragua still poses an “unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States”. Presumably he agreed that it does, because he renewed its status as a “national security threat” for a further year, repeating the designation that first began under the last Trump presidency. Both the Biden administration and members of Trump’s nominees have unleashed a fury of threats against the leadership of the ICC for issuing an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, the whole world knows that he has led a US sponsored genocide against the Palestinian people. Now the US is acting like international threatening gangsters protecting their main asset in the Middle East. The problem for them is that it is not just Colombia that has recognized the decision of the ICC, many of their allies in Europe have too. – editorial
