History repeats itself, the Bolivarian Venezuela is being attacked by the same hegemonic interests that attacked Iraq and Libya; the same that have maintained the economic war against Cuba. It coming from those who organized and financed coups d’états throughout Latin America and the Caribbean; those who systematically manipulate the human rights issue to destabilize governments and yet remain silent while the fundamental rights of millions of children in the world are suffering from hunger, malnutrition, sexual abuse; children who can´t even enjoy being who they are.

The Empire does not seem to remember its mistakes and its defeats. Today, the OAS is being used to bring down the Venezuela of Bolivar that was returned to the people by Chavez and whose work continues with President Maduro. The Secretary General of the OAS Luís Almagro wants to expel Venezuela from the heart of that organization “for not being democratic”. They are following the same pattern that they did with Cuba in 1962, by slandering Venezuela and trying to isolate it.

But the Bolivarian Revolution resists and continues to advance. The majority of the humble people, whom Chavez rescued from misery and ignorance, remains next to the Revolution and proclaims today the same way the Cubans did, with or without the OAS we will continue to fight! With OAS or without OAS, we continue the fight!

Gerardo Hernández Nordelo is one of the Five Cuban Heroes who was imprisoned in the United States for 16 years for fighting terrorism. He is currently  the vice dean of the Raúl Roa García  Institute of International Relations and a member of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, in Cuba.
