We run this article as a reminder of how Cuba is always helpful in promoting peace regionally and in the world. Cuba always stands on its principles even when it is cynically used against them by the US as a justification to keep the island on their list of countries supporting terrorism. (SSOT) – editorial

The Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN) agreed to continue with the activities foreseen in the agreements reached at the Peace Dialogue Table.

The delegations reached this understanding after concluding a meeting in Havana, Cuba, during the last three days, at the request of the guarantor and permanent accompaniment countries.

During the meeting, they analyzed the progress made in the agreements and the problems faced by the Dialogue Table, to which each party made commitments for the good development of the peace process.

The parties stated in a communiqué that they will continue with the planned actions and will evaluate the efforts and commitments during the seventh cycle, to be held in Venezuela between April 8 and 22.

The ELN dialogue delegation will carry out the internal consultations to which it was summoned, said the text released on Monday.

Both parties thanked Cuba for its hospitality and support, and the Guarantor and Permanent Accompanying Countries, as well as the Group of Accompanying, Support and Cooperation Countries.

Recently, there was a disagreement between the parties, after the ELN said that the Government did not comply with what had been agreed in previous cycles of talks.

The government delegation emphasized that it fulfills all its commitments and defended as one of its priorities the development of peace in the territories.

In a communiqué, it pointed out that the decisions taken unilaterally by the ELN are its entire responsibility, and lead to generate unnecessary crises that prolong the armed confrontation and the violence suffered by the communities.

For its part, the guerrilla pointed out that Bogotá, after agreeing to a national process of Participation of Society, set up a regional dialogue in Nariño outside this process and ignoring the ELN Delegation and the Table where the international community participates.
