The growing aggressiveness against Cuba by the current U.S. government has been even more poisonous in the midst of the COVID-19. Yesterday another three companies on the island were added to the ridiculous list of entities sanctioned by the Trump Administration.
According to the US State Department’s website, The Group Administración Empresarial S.A., Financiera Cimex S.A., and Kave Coffee S.A. were added to the long list of sanctioned entities by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Three Nicaraguan officials received the same treatment.
“I reject the new blockade measures announced by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Cuba will come out ahead no matter how many entities they include on their spurious lists. Every action of the U.S. foreign policy reinforces the isolation and international discredit to which Trump and his team led,” Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla denounced on Twitter.
Pompeo repeated the ignorant justification by saying, “this action seeks to put an end to economic practices that disproportionately benefit Cuba and Nicaragua.”
The White House once again has shown its hostility and visceral hatred by wanting to stop – with unilateral coercive measures – the Cuban response to the pandemic, while also violating the human rights of millions of people.
