In the article below, that we just wrote to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, we talk about the strength and determination of the Cuban people against all odds and we referred to one of Che’s most famous quotes when he said, “Lets be realistic, lets dream the impossible”. Perhaps as we finally leave 2020 we should pick up that revolutionary optimism to take us into the New Year with some realism that we can make some real gains if we commit to struggle together. Of course we are glad to see the despicable Trump go but he leaves behind the same system intact that will not suddenly become better. The enormous problems of inequality, racism and outright neglect will not change without the movement of all the people, all the different struggles coming together; that is what history has shown us. If Covid has done one good thing it is that it has left the illusions of the neo-liberal model exposed like no other time and we have to seize the opportunity to take action against their crimes and contradictions.
