It is essential to remember that on January 1, 1959, the Sierra Maestra guerrillas completed their offensive and defeated Batista’s army, which began the process that would sooner or later conclude with the second and definitive independence of all the peoples of the Americas. The exploiters and oppressors fled in a stampede and took refuge in Miami. From there they have been trying unsuccessfully for 62 years to suffocate the revolution, which has shown incredible strength, and its enemies, the anti-Castro mafia, the corrupt political leadership of the USA, the “free press” and its infinite capacity to lie equally amazing immorality.
There is no historical record that shows a power that subjected a much smaller and weaker country to a blockade and that this David could have resisted on equal footing with the aggression of the mindless and violent Goliath. Think about this! not only is the pandemic an exceptional episode: it is also, as a single case a revolution that has survived more than sixty years of aggressions, blockades, sanctions, media demonization, diplomatic ostracism and all kinds of sabotage. And also exceptional is the systematic violation of a member of the United Nations that disregards 28 resolutions of the General Assembly calling for an end to the blockade against Cuba. That country, that genuine “rogue state” so exalted by the media rubbish that surrounds us, is the United States. And the heroine of this story is none other than our beloved Cuba, a beacon not only in Latin America and the Caribbean but also worldwide, which by its example ignites and guides the rebellion of the “damned of the earth” (Frantz Fanon) on the five continents. Places where injustice, misery, illiteracy and disease prevail and where Cuba sends its literacy workers, doctors and health workers while the US dispatches its drones, its troops and its mercenaries. Cuba educates and cures, the US and its lackeys brutalize and kill.
Salud Cuba, until victory always! We will win!
