During his participation in the ceremony to celebrate the Bicentennial of the Battle of Carabobo, the historic deed that sealed the independence of Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro stressed that the emancipation and anti-imperialist spirit of Carabobo is today found in the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of our America (ALBA) and in the Bicentennial Congress of the Peoples.
“Bolivar was clear, either we are all free or none of us in South America is free. The spirit of Bolivar is today in this ALBA summit and in the Bicentennial Congress of the Peoples”, Maduro said after speaking about the reasons that led the Liberator not to conclude his work with the Liberation of New Granada or the Venezuelan territory, but went further, to integration, to union, in the common emancipation of the region. He went on to say, “The emancipating, geopolitical doctrine that the liberators formed is still valid today… For us the homeland is America… our liberators were men who thought in geopolitics, in emancipation, in union”.
“Two hundred years ago in Carabobo the definitive process of the liberation of South America began against the colonial occupation of Spain. The victory of Carabobo marked the course of Pichincha, Bomboná, Junín, Ayacucho and the breaking of 300 years of colonial domination of South America, of our America; it is the vision of the liberators and it is with this vision that we founded our Bolivarian Revolution. Commander Hugo Chávez built the national project that Simón Bolívar had in mind, setting the course with the civic-military union and the refounding of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.”
To conclude, President Maduro, recalled Commander Hugo Chávez and his words when he said that in 2021 we would be celebrating the Bicentennial of Carabobo as a free homeland. “Today we are here more rebellious and more revolutionary than ever, free revolutionaries and freer than ever.”
