Nicaragua: Argentina, the US Will Come for You Next

After successive US defeats in Our America, the empire is trying to focus its artillery against Nicaragua. The objective is to prevent the presidential elections in November; to create all kinds of fake news, encourage social discontent, etc.

For this purpose, imperialism is counting on the Nicaraguan parasitic oligarchy: the right-wing parties, some of them coming from the Sandinistas, and as always, the OAS, even though it is moribund.

The Nicaraguan problem is not a minor issue, it has repercussions throughout Central America and the Caribbean because it has a geopolitical importance of the first order. Politically, the next triumph of Sandinismo and possibly the historic triumph of the leftist candidate Xiomara Castro in Honduras, could become another Yankee defeat.

That is why they are so worried. We must not forget that the Nicaraguan government, together with the Chinese government, is building the second inter-oceanic canal of the continent.

In Argentina, Alberto Fernandez has had a hesitant position with Nicaragua, perhaps he does not understand Brecht’s advice when he said “First they came for the communists and I did not say anything because I was not…” It is clear that they are already coming for Alberto Fernandez and the Argentine democratic government as well.

Alberto Fernández and Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), Argentina and Mexico recalled their ambassadors to Nicaragua for consultation in repudiation of the human rights violations allegedly committed in Nicaragua.

Alberto Fernández ordered Felipe Solá to do the same with Daniel Capitanich, who represents Argentina’s diplomatic interests in Managua.

The decision to call Ambassador Capitanich for consultation is the epilogue of a succession of diplomatic actions ordered by Alberto Fernandez which Daniel Ortega rejected. The President instructed Capitanich to visit the Nicaraguan “political prisoners” and then Felipe Solá requested the immediate release of these “political prisoners”.

This attitude is disrespectful of a different style of diplomacy, as Peruvian Foreign Minister Héctor Béjar pointed out recently in his inauguration speech.

It is unethical and even immoral for Argentina to request the freedom of the Nicaraguan “political prisoners”, when in Argentina we still have political prisoners of the anti-neoliberal struggle against the Macri government.

As a consequence of this situation, the Nicaraguan government has also called these days -for consultation- its ambassador Orlando José Gómez.

It would not be bad if Daniel Ortega instructs the Nicaraguan diplomatic representative in Buenos Aires to visit Milagro Sala, Luis D’ Elia and the rest of the Argentine political prisoners.
