The difficult and complicated year 2021 came to an end. In Cuba, in addition to the confrontation with the Pandemic, the world economic crisis, the US blockade, which after 63 years was tightened with 243 measures by the Genocidal President. It even increased with new sanctions by his successor who is complicit in the crime and a bestial campaign of lies, slander and manipulations, We had to deal with the failed policy of the United States and its servants in their attempts to divide and destabilize us, using their domesticated and salaried European parliamentarians, turned into instruments of their foreign policy against Cuba and Latin America.
In the absence of support in our country for their plans, they turned to mercenaries, the fabrication of false leaders, the granting of awards to criminals and violent people, to self-aggressors to accuse the Cuban authorities, thieves, swindlers, people who used the Cuban flag as toilet paper or stained the statues of José Martí with pig’s blood.
The U.S. Government and its salaried employees set out to kill and exterminate us, as Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel pointed out. Contrary to what they calculated, the unity and resistance of the people increased, we are alive and ready to fight for full justice.
In this rebellious island, the vast majority of love life, music, dancing, they want to live in peace and tranquility and defend the works they are building. They condemn hatred, injustice and discrimination. We live together as brothers, descendants of Africans, Mayans, Chinese, Europeans and Italians, French and Spaniards from all their provinces.
For the group of these parliamentary enemies, it was a year of many meetings and activities, not to solve the serious problems afflicting their societies, but to fulfill the mandates of the United States against Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Bolivia, as if we were still their colonies or part of their dominions.
We have decided to denounce them before the Spanish people, international public opinion and the social movements of our continent, as fascists, ultra-right-wingers, racists, discriminators, colonialists and to declare them enemies of the peoples of Latin America.
Among those calling for this denunciation is history professor Sara Fernández Hechavarría, educator, museologist, who was a member of the national leadership of the Cuban Workers’ Central from 1986 to 1999.
Professor Hechavarría is a descendant of a slave brought from the African Kingdom of Mandinga, thrown into the sea during the slave trade in order to erase the traces of such condemnable commerce, he swam to the Cuban coasts where together with the aborigines he formed in the eastern mountains a small population named Mandinga, 32 kilometers from Baracoa, the first Cuban city founded by the Spaniards. His descendant Aquilino Hechavarría, her maternal grandfather, reached the ranks of First Sergeant in the Liberation Army against Spanish colonialism.
Professor of Political History Jorge Junco Martinez, president of the Association of Historians of the capital municipality of Centro Habana, a graduate in Economics and Legal Sciences, writer, scriptwriter for radio, cinema and television where who has won several awards, among them the Caracol, joined the denunciation.
Professor Martinez is a descendant of African slaves who, when they achieved freedom, acquired the surname of their owners, landowners in the Limones sugar mill in the province of Matanzas. Among the members of the professor’s family are his late brother Tito Junco, a well-known radio, film and television actor, and the famous singer Barbarito Diez.
The Cuban Revolution fighter Paula Cupull Reyes, descendant of a Mayan Cacique, brought as a slave from the Mexican peninsula of Yucatan, also requested to participate in this appeal. The Cacique came from the Cupull province where the ruins of Chichen Itza and Uxmal are located.
Her father Francisco Cupull faced the dictatorship of Gerardo Machado and she faced the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, she was a messenger in the eastern mountains and founder of the Sierra Maestra newspaper.
Professor Marta Fernández Montes de Oca, fighter of the Clandestine Struggle, descendant of Spaniards, sister of two martyrs of the Revolution. Orlando, tortured, assassinated and disappeared during the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship and Alberto, Pacho or Pachungo, fighter with Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara, killed in the Bolivian village of La Higuera on October 9, 1967.
Dr. Rafael Castellanos, of Spanish descent, specialist in Angiology and Vascular Surgery, Chief of the Diabetic Angiopathy Service, with specialization in renowned institutions in Germany, the United States and the former Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia.
He has served as head of Hyperbaric Oxygenation services at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, author of numerous scientific papers, consulting professor, member of the Editorial Committee of the manual of medical practices, president of the National Commission of that specialty in Cuba, Argentina, Spain and Peru. He is a member of several international organizations, founding director of the Revista Médica and has lectured in several countries.
Gina Caro, of Spanish descent, renowned radio, film and television actress, member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, UNEAC, the José Martí Cultural Society and the Escambray Group, a precursor project of Art in the communities. He worked with the great actor Sergio Corriere and Gilda, his mother, among other outstanding artists. She wrote the book “Gilda con Fidel en el Escambray”, about the life and another one of Sergio Corriere’s mother, in process of edition and actress of the film El Ojo del Canario about José Martí’s life.
Héctor Luis Asensio Duque de Heredia is a descendant of the Spaniard Ascencio Asensio Ayllón, godfather of Major General Antonio Maceo y Grajales. After the uprising of October 10, 1868, together with a group of Cubans, he was taken to a Spanish military camp and on August 7, 1869 they were massacred, causing the death of 22 patriots.
Hector is the great-grandson of Brigadier General Amadeo Manuitt, considered the first Venezuelan internationalist in the fight for the Independence of our country. After participating in several battles on May 30, 1870, he fell fighting heroically.
During Batista’s dictatorship, Hector was taken prisoner, tortured, managed to go into exile, returned to Cuba after the triumph of the Revolution where he took on different responsibilities.
Writers, historians and university professors Froilán González García and Adys Cupull Reyes, descendants of Spanish and Mayan cacique Nabón Cupull respectively. The renowned intellectuals are authors of more than 46 books on important personalities in the history of Cuba and of the book “Sin odios ni rencores” (Without hatred or rancor) on the Spanish-Cuban-American war, presented in Gijon, Spain in 1998 and in other cities of that country, in commemoration of the centenary of the end of the war. They belong to several Cuban institutions, among them the UPEC, the Union of Historians of Cuba and coordinators of the UNEAC in the Key West neighborhood.
Professor and Master of Cuban History, María Emilia Fajardo Pérez, of Spanish descent, participated as Technical Advisor in the 1961 literacy campaign that freed Cuba from that scourge. She worked until her retirement as Professor of History of Sports Glories at the University of that specialty.
Among her students were multiple time boxing champion Teófilo Stevenson Lawrence, the second athlete in history to become a triple Olympic Champion, and María Caridad Colón Ruenes, the first Latin American woman to be crowned Olympic Champion in the javelin throw.
Both refused to sell out in the face of millionaire offers to defect and develop campaigns against the Cuban Revolution. That attitude turned them into pillars of dignity and national pride. Such are the true Cubans and not those who sell themselves at the price of dead chickens in the process of putrefaction.
We thank all those in solidarity with our people, among them the Americans where we highlight the members of the Bridges of Love campaign, the Alianza Martiana and the 111 congressmen, who have asked the president of their country to change the policy in relation to Cuba. Also to the European parliamentarians who support the development of solidarity, cultural and friendship ties with our country and people.
We denounce the European parliamentarians who, following the interests of U.S. imperialism, interfere in the internal affairs of Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Bolivia. We consider them enemies of our peoples and also of Spain and other European countries.
Those ignorant of history should be reminded of a poem by Manuel Navarro Luna, born in 1894. When he was six months old, his father Zacarias Navarro Perez, a captain in the Spanish army, was tortured and murdered by his colleagues for supporting the Cuban independence fighters.
The family of the Spanish captain was thrown into persecution and extreme poverty, Manuel Navarro Luna since he was a child had to work as a cleaner, shoeshine boy, diver, sereno and public prosecutor.
He fought against the dictatorship of Gerardo Machado and the Nazi-fascist threat, with the help of his family.
He fought against the dictatorship of Gerardo Machado and the Nazi-fascist threat, he fought against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and when the Revolution led by Fidel Castro triumphed, on January 1, 1959, he joined the national militias.
He participated against the counterrevolutionary bands financed by the United States in the Escambray Mountains and confronted the mercenary invaders in April 1961, at Playa Girón and Playa Larga, organized by the United States, which was defeated in less than 66 hours. Navarro Luna wrote the poem: VENCEREMOS!
“We are a strong people, A united people that courage expands…!
We are a great people because we fear neither hunger nor death!
The reactionary giant may have many daggers; but we are an upright and brave people;
a heroic and steadfast people who do not want to be servants nor do we want to be slaves…”
In his poem he points out that the lazy should turn away and the traitors should flee when he says:
“Never did any colimbo fight with the storm…!
The seagulls always fled from the thunder…!
But not so the albatross that to the storm launchesits cry of victory and joy
like a clarion call of hope…”
“The imperialist monster whose rotten entrails is nourished by the blood of brotherly peoples will know how the Cuban mambises defend honor and life…
the Cuban mambises…!
And we will not be alone in the tremendous struggle against the dirty giant.
The peoples are rising up against the monster that listens to its defiant clarion call…!
To all the difficult and hard roads; To all the martyrs for our Homeland we will go!
But we will go sure that, in the end, we will win!
And if pain and hunger oppress us; if our land turns into embers, we will nail the star in the entrails of crime and we will raise the Homeland over our own death…!
We will not retreat…! We will not retreat before anything!
Before nothing! And we will win in the bloody journey…!
WE WILL WIN!
