“Welcome to your Palace, to the Palace of the Revolution, which is the trench and home of those of us who work every day for the work that you and your comrades in struggle brought undefeated to us.”

This is how the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received on Saturday afternoon almost a hundred “dear and beloved combatants of the Cuban Revolution”, representing the hundreds of thousands of members of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution (ACRC), which this December 7 celebrated 31 years of its foundation.

To them, who “knew how to build and defend our work with loyalty and coherence”, the Head of State thanked them for “not having renounced their boldness or to change everything that must be changed”, which “makes them admirable combatants of all times”.

Diaz-Canel spoke with great respect and emotions to that generation that did not “get tired of facing difficulties, and that being the protagonist of the revolutionary struggle since their young years, continue to stand up for the struggle as the most accurate definition of what it means to resist and win”.

In his words also there was tribute to those who treasure so much experience and stories, and also the encouragement to those who, a little younger, continue today the path of previous generations and work together to continue building the history of our homeland with their contributions.

The dialogue lasted more than two hours and was a constant evocation and homage to Fidel, Raul and so many other essential combatants; it was also a space to reaffirm the commitment to the Revolution, which for many in the world continues to be a reference for the defense of its ideals and principles.

In the emblematic Portocarrero Hall, which treasures so much history, they shared this afternoon the heroes of Granma, of the Sierra, of the clandestine work of the 26th of July Movement, of the glorious Marianas, of the internationalist missions, and of the current difficult days.

Together with them were the members of the Political Bureau Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party; the Ministers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and of the Interior, General of the Army Corps Alvaro Lopez Miera and Brigadier General Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas, respectively, as well as Jose Amado Ricardo Guerra, Secretary of the Council of Ministers.

The emotional dialogue was described by those present as a meeting that “allows feelings to come out”, because they are feelings that unite them as part of the legacy of Fidel and from which the unconditional support to the Cuban Revolution, to the Centennial Generation and to the youth of the future was ratified.

And in that dialogue of generations it was extremely inspiring to hear how the youngest were honored and recognized for their courage, their patriotism, their dignity… who from so many trenches have also become an inspiration for the Homeland.

It was not by chance that one of those young people, in the name of so many, assured the President of the Republic, all those gathered there, and the Cuban Revolution, that “trust in the young people”, because “we young people will not fail”.

It was also an exchange to honor our martyrs and Cuban internationalism, where Fidel’s imprint will always be present.

In the voice of more than twenty participants, multiple anecdotes were heard, of those that are never forgotten; the unconditional support of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior to the Revolution and its historical leadership, which is the continuity, as well as the responsibility with the formation of the new generations.

From optimism and confidence, they spoke of the ethical and moral example that Cuba is for the world, because for many it is “a guiding light”; they spoke of loyalty, continuity and commitment.

At the close of the meeting, President Díaz-Canel thanked everyone for being there, in a gathering of many emotions, because, he assured, “we have lived a day of intense revolutionary emotion and patriotic homage”.

After commenting on the current scenario in the country and the consequences of the recent severe events that we have had to face and the complexity of the daily performance of the nation, in which “has been the decisive role of the fighters of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior,” the president stressed the need to promote patriotic-military and internationalist education of the new generations, from the example of our fighters who have allowed us to be here today.

What we have shared today, he stressed, is a “renewed impulse to continue defending the Revolution unconditionally and especially in these hard times that we are living together with the people”.

To conclude the dialogue, the President of the Republic shared the certainty of the Army General on the 65th anniversary of the Revolution and which motivates the work of so many throughout the country: “For us, Cuban revolutionaries, difficulties do not keep us awake at night, our only path is to continue the struggle with optimism and unwavering faith in victory”.

You are a sample of that, Diaz-Canel told them.
