Mayor Lee welcoming Cuban diplomats to Oakland,
The mayor of Oakland city in the US state of California, former democratic congresswoman Barbara Lee, reiterated her support for a change in US policy towards Cuba and her rejection of Washington’s over 60-year economic, commercial and financial blockade of the Caribbean Island nation.
Mayor Lee explained to a rally in Oakland of over one hundred trade unionists, community organizations and Cuba solidarity activists, that the work she did in Washington on Capitol Hill to end the blockade will continue in her new position, according to Prensa Latina wire service.
The mayor welcomed Cuban diplomats Yasser Ibarra and David Ramirez, who took part of the tour “Let Cuba Live,” and recalled her tireless efforts towards the improvement of relations between the US and Cuba and for the lifting of the unilateral US siege.

In related news, the city council of Richmond also in California, adopted a unanimous proclamation urging Washington to take Cuba from the arbitrary list of state sponsors of terrorism (SSOT) and to lift all sanctions against the island.
