The Network in Defense of Humanity (REDH) today called on the peoples of the world to mobilize for peace, in a statement that has already been joined by prominent intellectuals from Cuba and around the world. To add your support, write to the following email address: oficinaedhcuba@gmail.com
The text reads:
What we feared has finally happened. Adding to the genocide in the Gaza Strip; to the attacks and targeted assassinations in other countries in the region; to the escalation of war against Iran; in short, to Israel’s criminal rampage; now, as a fateful imperial incursion, we can add the US bombing of three nuclear facilities in Iranian territory.
Arrogant and obscene, President Trump boasts of the effectiveness of his military and of the blow he has dealt on the international stage. He seems to ignore that this spiral of violence may not lead to his desired pax Americana, but to a veritable apocalypse.
From the REDH, we endorse the words of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez: ‘Peace through force is an imperialist doctrine that seeks to impose terror, armament, and global destabilization as a means of sustaining the hegemonic debacle of the United States. It rests on the notion that whoever has the force is right,” emphasizes the text of the movement of thought and action made up of writers, artists, poets, scientists, academics, lawyers, teachers, economists, religious leaders, athletes, students, and social movements.
With an immediate response, Cubans such as the president of Casa de las Américas, Abel Prieto Jiménez; the heroes of the Republic of Cuba, Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez and Fernando González Llort; among other researchers, journalists, and political scientists; signed the appeal, which makes it clear that “fascism is the enemy of democracy and all civilized forms of human coexistence”; and that “Trump and Netanyahu are its contemporary expressions.
In view of the alarming turn of events, we condemn the attacks that foreshadow an even greater escalation and call for the resumption of negotiations so that any differences can be resolved through dialogue and a confrontation with unpredictable consequences can be avoided,” continues the statement, which bears prominent signatures such as those of Argentines Stella Calloni and Adolfo Pérez Esquivel (Nobel Peace Prize winner); Mexican-Argentine Fernando Buen Abad, Ignacio Ramonet, and Spaniard Manu Pineda, among others.
We call on the peoples of the world to mobilize for peace. Stop the warmongering aggression against Iran and the occupation of Palestine,” concludes the text, providing the following email address for anyone who wishes to join the appeal: oficinaedhcuba@gmail.com
