Journalist Katherine Doyle, NBC News’ White House correspondent, reports that President Donald Trump has become “increasingly frustrated” by the fact that months of pressure from the United States have failed to destabilize the Cuban government, and has pressed his advisors to explain why efforts to bring the Cuban leadership to collapse have not succeeded.
The website Drop Site also reports that, according to this information, some U.S. officials believe the Cuban government could still fall by the end of 2026 without the need for direct military intervention; however, Trump considers that timeline to be too slow.
NBC notes that the Pentagon has also begun updating contingency plans for possible military action against Cuba, should the president order it.
As always with these “leaks,” it’s best to take them with a grain of salt. The mainstream media in the U.S. is an extension of economic and political power and often ends up serving as a barometer of public opinion and an explanatory accomplice to imperialism.
However, as the old saying goes, “where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” And it appears there are several voices within the current administration attempting to push for military action against the island as the only possible way to achieve their objectives in the short term.
And incidentally, it is reconfirmed that the real objective of the intensified criminal punishment against the Cuban people is to provoke a social uprising. Something known to everyone, but it doesn’t hurt to have it acknowledged in the U.S. corporate media.
Let’s share, denounce, and stay alert!!
