Several digital media outlets are spreading the “news” that, in Cuba, the government is distributing weapons to civilian volunteers in anticipation of a possible attack. Let me be clear: in Cuba, we don’t improvise; we are an organized country, especially when it comes to defense.
Here we have Territorial Troop Militias, heirs to the National Revolutionary Militias—yes, the very same ones that defeated the Yankee mercenaries at Girón, the ones that cleared the mountains of rebel bandits, especially in the Escambray, made up of peasants, students, and workers.
The MTTs have been preparing since 1980 for the War of the Whole People, together with the Production and Defense Brigades; in every Defense Zone, these units—composed of the people—stand ready to face the enemy.
If the enemy makes the mistake of setting foot in Cuba, it will find a hornet’s nest; every Cuban is capable, knows what to do, and, above all, why. @comitecarioca
