Argentine President Javier Milei concluded his tour of the United States with a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which he reaffirmed his alignment with the genocidal state of Israel.
On the eve of the meeting, which lasted twenty minutes, Milei declared—at a luncheon organized by the Economic Club of New York—that Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump are “the two great heroes of humanity” and that “the West is being reborn because of them”.
Shortly before the bilateral meeting, Netanyahu, in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, defended Israel’s military operations over the past three years against the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq. He also lashed out at Turkey and Qatar. This brief account alone demonstrates the incompatibility between Zionism and the aspirations for peace and land held by the peoples of the Middle East.
In the case of Gaza, Netanyahu dismissed allegations of genocide as “the lie of the century”. However, the ethnic cleansing in the coastal territory—carried out through the systematic bombing of schools, hospitals, and refugee centers, along with an economic blockade that prevents the entry of food and medicine—is, as former UN official Craig Mokhiber put it, a “textbook case of genocide”.
During the brief meeting, Netanyahu returned the compliments to Milei, describing his economic management as “masterful”. According to an Israeli statement, both discussed the expansion of the so-called Isaac Accords—the Latin American version of the Abraham Accords—through which Israel normalized relations with Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco.
During the meeting, Milei did not say a single word to Netanyahu about the illegal operations of the Israeli firm Navitas in the Falkland Islands, in partnership with the British oil company Rochkopper.
Protests against Netanyahu and the genocide taking place near the United Nations General Assembly were suppressed by security forces, resulting in dozens of arrests, including actress Susan Sarandon. Inside the venue, several delegations walked out when the Israeli prime minister took the podium to speak.
This October will mark the third anniversary of Israel’s invasion of Gaza. To date, more than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed as a result of those operations. Trump, the other “great hero of humanity,” according to Milei, supports this genocidal plan and imposed a colonial junta that he himself heads.
