Washington’s Masks Fall

Threats! Made in USA

“The new unilateral coercive measures approved by the U.S. government, in addition to further tightening the grip on Cuba, unmask those who claim they are only against the Cuban government and its companies,” said Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, on Wednesday.

“These actions against the Cuban private sector clearly demonstrate that their sole intention is to cause maximum suffering to our people and limit the implementation of economic and social transformations,” he said.

On the same social network, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, a member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, stated: “The U.S. government has issued another wave of blockade measures against the Cuban people. Among them, they are eliminating people-to-people exchanges and further limiting academic and research exchanges.”

“Also, the prohibitions on private Cuban entities conducting direct business with the U.S. and U.S. banks are being strengthened, in addition to the prohibition on U-turn transactions. Indirect transactions with entities on the State Department’s unilateral restricted entities list are prohibited,” he said.

In that regard, the Foreign Minister asserted: “Less than 24 hours ago, the Secretary of State said that ‘Cuba has already fallen,’ and now it turns out that it needs to implement additional measures.”

In this regard, he stated that, “these new blocking measures are intended to obstruct the ongoing process of economic transformation. They openly attack both the public and private sectors, the latter of which some US officials claim they want to help develop.”

Such actions by Washington come as part of an unprecedented intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, expanded by an energy embargo that aims to provoke – according to figures in the current administration – the so-called “regime change” on the Island.
