The Cuban ambassador to Honduras, Juan Loforte, on Friday deplored a smear campaign in the corporate media and by officials against the Cuban medical brigade, attributing it to the “unhealthy discourse from the United States.” This week, the far-right government of Nasry Asfura announced the cancellation of the medical cooperation agreement with Cuba. National Nurses United (NNU), the nation’s largest union of registered nurses in the U.S., today condemned the Trump administration’s blockade on Cuba, which has created a humanitarian crisis on the island. The nurses called on the administration and Congress to end the blockade and allow full delivery of oil resources and other aid for the Cuban people. (more…)

For more than six decades, the United States has been suffocating the Cuban people by imposing anachronistic and inhumane economic sanctions. These measures affect the most vulnerable sectors of the island’s population, particularly the sick, children, the elderly, and pregnant women, and have a dramatic impact on all areas of Cuban society. Retroactive and extraterritorial in nature, they contravene the most basic principles of international law. Since 1992, they have been unanimously condemned each year by the United Nations General Assembly. (more…)

LA meeting for Cuba
Solidarity with Cuba was once again expressed in the city of Los Angeles during a meeting convened by the Hands Off Cuba Committee, a coordinating body based on the US West Coast that denounces the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington against the island. Under the slogan “Cuba Yes, Blockade No!”, around a hundred activists, trade unionists, academics, and representatives of social organizations reiterated their support for the Cuban people. (more…)
