Ukraine: Zelensky, the Neo-Nazis and the Forgotten War

By Angel Guerra Cabrera on March 10, 2022

Ukrainian President Volodomir Zelensky is of Jewish origin. So, repeats Fox News, CNN, PBS and, of course, other hegemonic media, ensuring us that it is absurd to claim that there are Nazis and neo-Nazi influence in his government. However, the facts show that not only Zelensky, but also the regime he represents, has a neo-Nazi background, rooted in the history of the Ukrainian (more…)

Freedom of Speech: the First Victim of the Ukrainian Crisis

By Gustavo A Maranges on March 8, 2022

Freedom of speech has become something like the 11th commandment of the Bible and it is interpreted by everyone in their own way, as everybody does with the holy text. Big media “defends” tooth and nail that freedom of speech is inviolable and must be safeguarded at all times. However, like good preachers, they interpret this principle in their own way, not to say as they please. (more…)

Between Cynicism and Revenge

By Rosa Miriam Elizalde on March 6, 2022

Nothing is more frightening than to see U.S. officials discussing international law and war crimes. Live and on air, Harris Faulkner, host of Fox News, has told Condoleezza Rice that “when you invade a sovereign nation, that is a war crime”. The former head of U.S. diplomacy, one of the architects of the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, not only nodded in agreement, but responded, “It certainly goes against every principle of international law and international order.” (more…)

The last time I paraded through the Plaza de la Revolución on May Day was in 2019.  I remember the sound that day from the clanging of a handbell, beaten by a very red-eyed man, who probably had been sleepless for hours, waiting for the march to begin. He was walking along with other members of a marching band, which was advancing through the crowd playing a Conga, a very Cuban rhythm that makes you dance for good. (more…)
