Ten days before the tragedy in Venezuela, my mother sent me a planner. On the first page, in her own handwriting, it reads:
“I miss your hand in mine, like a sleeping little frog. I wrote this when you were born. I’ll think of this when I close my eyes for the last time.” (more…)

The teleSUR building in Caracas withstood the impact of the two earthquakes, magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, that shook Venezuela on Wednesday, but the scars remained. There were walls scratched by the fury of the telluric movement, fallen ceiling tiles, and traces of shattered glass from several computers that crashed to the floor. (more…)

The Supreme Court today ruled that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) could terminate (TPS) for Haitian and Syrian refugees currently in the US under Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This decision could leave 350,000 Haitians along with 6100 Syrians without work permits, subject to Trump’s brutal deportation machine for one of the largest mass deportations in US history. Fifteen other country nationals with TPS are at risk of being subjected to the same draconian measures. (more…)

Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, uno de los últimos comandantes supervivientes de la Revolución Cubana y uno de los principales artífices de las instituciones que la defendieron frente a seis décadas de guerra, bloqueo y subversión por parte de Estados Unidos, falleció en la mañana del 21 de junio de 2026 en La Habana. Tenía 94 años. El Partido Comunista de Cuba y el Gobierno cubano anunciaron su fallecimiento. El presidente Miguel Díaz-Canel escribió que la pérdida del Comandante de la Revolución «duele profundamente, como la de un padre». (more…)
