Washington DC Gathering to Honor the Life of Alicia Jrapko and the Arrival of the Cuban 5 Archives Project

Please join Alicia’s life partner Bill Hackwell, Netfa Freeman and Cheryl LaBash for a social gathering of friends and colleagues who worked with Alicia Jrapko over the years.

The event will take place from on Saturday on April 9, 5-7 pm

Location: Institute for Policy Studies

1301 Connecticut Avenue Northwest  #600

Washington, DC 20036

This gathering recognizes the successful delivery to the Cuban Embassy of a substantial part of the U.S. archival material generated through the victorious struggle to free the Cuban 5. These boxes of personal letters, photographs, exhibits, printed literature and much more were preserved by Bill and Alicia over their 13 years of collaborative work across the country. The contents range from Gerardo Hernandez’s first letter to Alicia in 2001 until the final three heroes returned to Cuba on Dec. 17, 2014.

We hope that you can come and share your remembrance of Alicia and her life well lived struggling for a more just world.
