“Given the strong attacks against the presence of Cuban doctors in Mexico, and after investigating and consulting with various sources, I open a thread to tell about the involvement of the USAID and Senator Julen Rementería, of the National Action Party (PAN), in the attacks,” political analyst Katu Arkonada denounced on his Twitter today.
Arkonada who is also member of the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity revealed that Rementería, coordinator of the PAN group in the Legislative, is the same one who “when Cuban doctors arrived in 2020 to face the pandemic, denounced, with false documents, alleging it was an illegal hiring.”
The analyst added that there are two lines of attack by the PAN against the decision of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to hire a Cuban medical brigade: “the first one points out that their presence in Mexico is unnecessary, and the second one, promoted from Miami, announces that the doctors will be sent to conflict zones.”
Arkonada revealed that Julen Rementería has close ties with the Cuban-born terrorist Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat, leader of the Directorio Democrático organization, which incited violence in Cuba on July 11, 2021, and is the voice of the SOS Cuba campaign against the health system on the island.
The Mexican senator is also linked to the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba, a pioneer in articulating actions against the medical brigades in Latin America, for which she uses USAID funding (extended with new funds in October 2021 and September 2022), denounced the publication on the social network.
He assured that Margarita Guerra, Director of Programs of the USAID’s Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, is the main coordinator and financier of the campaign that seeks to boycott the presence of Cuban doctors in Mexico.
