With the immorality, aggressiveness, and intimidating threats to the entire world that characterize the US government, the Trump regime announced on June 30 the implementation of a Presidential Memorandum prohibiting the American people from visiting Cuba. The travel ban to the island prohibits, under audit, all types of scientific, academic, cultural, and commercial contact.
The Memorandum reissues the tax imposed during Trump’s first term in June 2017. Eight years later, and without the Biden administration having modified it, Donald Trump seems to be following the advice of the worst of the Miami worms, once again reinforcing the criminal blockade and the illegal and extraterritorial Helms-Burton Act in the name of freedom, democracy, and human rights.
With their characteristic cynicism and hypocrisy, they claim that the measures are intended to support the Cuban people. The same people they deny visas to visit their relatives and the remittances they send them from the US; the same people they denied lung ventilators in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The same people whom the blockade, reinforced to the point of suffocation, plus inclusion on the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism, persecutes and sanctions banks, financial institutions, international transfers, shipping companies, and insurance companies that supply fuel, food, medicine, spare parts, and any other goods.
Strangling Cuba, wearing it down through fatigue, exhaustion, hunger, and deprivation, provoking an internal explosion that will end the Revolution and seize power in Cuba is the historical objective.
Despicable anti-Cuban figures whose hatred of the Revolution has brought them lucrative businesses and positions of power too great for their baseness, such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Mauricio Claver Carone, who was under his command, said publicly in February that they had studied a series of measures with surgical precision that would cause harm and that suffering would be necessary.
This memorandum confirms it.
This aggression is not only opposed and denounced with all their strength by the revolutionary government and the Cuban people, but also by governments in the region, political parties, and organizations. It will also be opposed by the American people, business leaders, and political representatives who want to maintain a civilized relationship with Cuba and who are ashamed of the policy of unprovoked hostility of their government.
From International Solidarity, we call for the denunciation of this new aggression against Cuba and its government. We call for the defense of the sovereign right of the Cuban people to live and develop in peace.
More than six decades of resistance to the longest genocidal blockade in history, the Bay of Pigs invasion, terrorist attacks, sabotage, and a fierce and unrelenting media campaign have not succeeded in making the people renounce the dignity, rights, and freedom they have achieved since January 1, 1959.
No one intimidates the Cuban people and their Revolution.
Socialist Cuba, the Cuba of Fidel, Che, Raúl, and Díaz-Canel, has already triumphed and once again, it will continue to triumph!
