As someone who fears public attention and backlash on his actions and takes refuge in the end of the week’s wind as people get out of Washington on Friday afternoons, (almost all of his anti-Cuban announcements have been made on that day of the week), Marco Rubio announced new coercive measures against Cuba on July 11.
In an attempt to make July 11 a forced date for counterrevolutionary mobilization, with the Malloryan purpose of being the final straw to end the Revolution, the US Secretary of State announced the inclusion of 11 more Cuban hotels onto the infamous list of prohibited Cuban entities and accommodations prohibited for US citizens.
Everything that means cutting off foreign currency from Cuba and suffocating its finances, thereby causing despair among the population, is on Mr. Rubio’s cynical personal agenda.
In addition, he announced a ban on entry into the United States for the Cuban president and also for the ministers of the FAR and the MININT, who were already subject to such treatment since 2021.
The “mister” is a ridiculous paperweight.
Rubio also spoke of a secret list of judicial and prison system officials who will not be eligible for visas.
Sarcastically, one might think that the ineffable Secretary of State is trying not to overload his government department, from which he has fired more than 1,300 officials today.
But the reality is that Rubio continues to bet on a policy of maximum pressure against the Cuban government and people, and like his boss, he is throwing punches wildly left and right.
His evil spirit is behind the mocking memorandum of June 30, the interventionist show at his country’s diplomatic residence in Havana a few days ago, and now these announcements of new measures of aggression.
With total cynicism, he talks about human rights, repression, and corruption, the same guy who just imposed sanctions against renowned Italian jurist Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, for daring to denounce the Israeli government’s atrocious crimes against the Palestinian people; the same hypocrite who remains silent in the face of the relentless repression of migrants and their forced confinement in the sinister “Alcatraz of the Caymans” prison; the same guy who applauds the enormous trafficking of influence by the Trump family
In the video message he sent to his employees in Cuba, Marco Rubio called for opposition to “a regime that does everything it can to punish you and your families.” Could he be looking in the mirror at his own narcissism?
Rubio and his acolytes are directly responsible for the suffering and needs that we Cubans face today and for the irregular migratory flow that the country has suffered and that now bothers Trump and the Trumpists, who threaten to expel them and deny them all rights after encouraging them to come.
But despite all the machinery of aggression deployed by the US government, despite the ongoing campaign of disinformation on social media and digital media, despite the pipeline of money that Marco Rubio manages for subversive plans, the imperial strategy has not achieved its strategic objectives. Cuba stands firm and continues to stand tall, thanks to the enormous capacity for resistance and honor of its people.
