More than 30,000 groups participated in the large popular mobilization in support of Rixi Moncada, a fighter who promises to continue the refounding of Honduras.

“Honduras is not only in resistance; Honduras is in revolution, and from San Pedro Sula we are beginning this 90-day process toward the presidency of the Republic,” said presidential candidate Rixi Moncada today during the great mobilization in support of her candidacy convened in that Honduran city.

The candidate described this as a historic moment where hundreds of thousands of comrades have mobilized together and united with a single commitment: to continue the process of rebuilding the country to transform and develop Honduras.

Moncada reaffirmed her commitment to building a proud, free, independent, democratic, and socialist country to serve its people, which represents a historic vindication of justice since the era of the banana companies. She affirmed that they will continue the struggle for better living conditions for the population, which includes audits of corrupt treaties and concessions.

Similarly, he recognized the validity of the process initiated by José Manuel Zelaya and continued by current President Xiomara Castro, whom he described as the president of the people with a commendable administration, and highlighted the strength of the people in defeating the conservative oligarchy and the powerful groups that orchestrated the coup against Zelaya.

“Rixi continues, the Revolution continues” was the slogan of her campaign, adding that they will continue with the Refoundation. Moncada affirmed that with the strength of the people, they will defeat the oligarchies at the polls.

Hundreds of activists traveled to the city by bus, minibus, and private vehicle from the country’s 18 departments to participate in the march in support of the lawyer’s presidential candidacy.

The march on August 30 is therefore shaping up to be a central act of popular reaffirmation, where the party seeks to consolidate its membership and send a clear message of resistance in the face of internal and external pressures.

In this regard, Libre’s leadership emphasizes that the mobilization is not only a step on the electoral path, but also an active defense of democracy, social peace, and Honduran sovereignty in the face of attempts at destabilization.

“This will be a historic moment of victory for the people against those who seek to take away their future,” Manuel Zelaya previously emphasized, assuring that the Honduran people will mobilize peacefully but with determination to demonstrate that the refounding of the country is an irreversible path.

To ensure the safety of the activists, a “Comprehensive Security Plan” was implemented, involving 800 agents from the National Police, the Fire Department, the Red Cross, and the 911 emergency system.

Security Minister Gustavo Sánchez explained that the march would start at Bulevar del Este and end at Parque Central, where a main stage was set up for speeches by party leaders.
