Rubio, an Uncontrollable Mythomaniac, a new book by journalist and writer Hedelberto López Blanch who is a regular contributor to Resumen Latinoamericano, Rebelión, and Al Mayadeen, was presented on Tuesday afternoon at the International Press Center before a large audience.
Graciela Ramírez, head of the Resumen Latinoamericano bureau in Cuba, explained that despite the obstacles encountered in bringing this volume to fruition, with the selfless help of several collaborators, it was possible to produce an initial print run of 300 copies, which was completed on an important and symbolic date for the Cuban people: August 13, Fidel’s birthday.
She thanked the professionals and graphic workers from MSMEs and printing companies who participated in the production of the book, as well as the translation into English, French, Italian, and Portuguese, which will allow for other editions to be published in as many countries as possible.
Published by Editorial Ciencias Sociales, with the support of Resumen Latinoamericano, the work is “a rigorous political and moral anatomy of the sinister Marco Rubio, illustrating the corrupting role of CIA money,” a fact described in sufficient detail by the author and emphasized by René González Sehwerert, Hero of the Republic and author of the book’s prologue, during the presentation.
“It could be said that Rubio is the intermediate link between the children of the Cuban American Foundation and today’s YouTubers, each one profiting from the same business, with the tools that their time has given them,“ Rene explained, referring to the destabilization and ”regime change” campaigns that have been systematically orchestrated against Cuba from abroad for six decades using different tactics.
The panel was made up of Michel Torres Corona for Editorial Ciencias Sociales; Hedelberto López Blanch, journalist, researcher, writer, and author of the book presented; René González Sehwerert, Hero of the Republic; and Graciela Ramírez Cruz, Head of the Resumen Latinoamericano Correspondent Office in Cuba. The panel was chaired by Yaira Jiménez Roig, Director General of Communication and Image at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hedelberto López Blanch, after illustrating the content of this new publication, the result of research that follows on from other books he has authored, such as “Miami, dirty money,” emphasized that this “shady character” is “a spawn of U.S. politics,” which seeks to undermine the rights of independence, sovereignty, and self-determination of the Cuban people.
Regarding the information and evidence presented in the book, López Blanch explained that “this is not random data,” but rather a book that “is based on official documents, on official press releases,” many of them compiled during his trips to the United States, and that they bring to light the lies of the sinister US policy against Cuba,” as he defined the Secretary of State of the current Trump administration.
The work “describes very well the evolution, over the years, of the groups that, one after another, took up the banner of the counterrevolution, always in step with US policy against Cuba,” said René González Sehwerert who as a member of the Cuban 5 knows this well.
This new publication is available in print and digital versions, as well as translations in English, Portuguese, and Italian, although wider distribution is expected in Latin American countries. A second edition of “Rubio: An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac” with a larger number of copies is expected to be available at the next Havana International Book Fair.
Regarding its marketing in other countries, Graciela Ramírez explained that “whatever is collected will be used to save the peoples, to defend Cuba, to defend Venezuela, to defend the region,” emphasizing that the intention is not to recoup the investment, but to continue supporting causes of solidarity among the peoples.
Attending the event included Venezuelan Ambassador, Orlando Maneiro; the Nicaraguan Ambassador, Guisell Morales; the Bolivian Ambassador, Yeshika Crespo; Majed Abu Al Hawa, representative of the Palestinian Embassy; and Commander Víctor Dreke, who, as René González said, “is, after all, a man of his time.”
Message from Abel Prieto, president of Casa de las Américas, to the book presentation
Dear colleagues at the International Press Center,
Dear Graciela, dear Hedelberto and Michel, I am writing to you from Caracas, where, in these days of growing imperial aggression, Marco Rubio has often been mentioned.
This book by Hedelberto is very useful for understanding what Martí called “the poisons of the soul that stain the nature of the United States”… He was referring to greed, the cult of money, the lack of ethics, the shameless use of lies, opportunism, and the corruption of politicians. The character portrayed in the pages of this book epitomizes the moral crisis of the Empire’s elites, particularly those in Miami.
I read Rubio: An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac here, in besieged and slandered Venezuela. I could not help but contrast the courage and dignity of the Bolivarian people with Marco Rubio’s tricks and dirty games. I have participated here in events organized by the Network in Defense of Humanity, the Rómulo Gallegos Center, the Simón Bolívar Institute, and the International University of Communications. I have listened here to community leaders, students, intellectuals, professors, and leaders of institutions and civil society. I even shared with indigenous women from the Guayú and Yukpa peoples.
They reject war, they want peace, but they are not afraid. They are prepared to resist the imperialist offensive in any of its forms. They are convinced that they are defending just principles and that the enemies of the Bolivarian Revolution are guided by greed and infamy.
I would like to congratulate Editorial Ciencias Sociales, Resumen Latinoamericano, and Hedelberto for their contribution to today’s battle of ideas with this political and moral anatomy of a monstrous creature.
Warm regards, Abel Prieto.
