Argentina’s Infamous Vote Against Cuba at the UN

Argentina did it again.

At the UN, while 165 countries voted to lift the blockade against Cuba, our country chose to side with the wrong side of history. It voted against it.

Yes, alongside the United States, Israel, and a handful of subordinate governments, Argentina decided to ignore the suffering of a people who have been resisting a brutal economic war for more than six decades.

The blockade is not a “sanction”: it is a crime. It is a collective punishment that prevents Cuba from accessing medicine, food, and basic resources. Every vote against it is a declaration of servility to the empire and a slap in the face to the Latin American tradition that we once built.

They want to convince us that “it’s just diplomacy,” but there is no diplomacy possible when it comes to choosing between dignity and submission. Cuba remains standing, and its example still makes the powerful uncomfortable.
