The strong response to the call for the IX Latin American and Caribbean Continental Meeting in Solidarity with Cuba, to be held from October 9 to 12 in Mexico, reaffirms that Cuba is not alone.
This is evidenced by the expected attendance of more than 300 delegates and guests from 27 nations, in addition to the United States, Canada, Spain, and Lebanon, said Lilia María Zamora Rodríguez, director of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
Zamora Rodriguez highlighted the great encouragement represented by this broad participation of friends in the event “at a time when our heroic people need solidarity support more than ever in the face of the onslaught of the US empire, which also endangers regional peace with the deployment of military forces in the Caribbean.”
“The sessions will ratify the strongest condemnation of the U.S. economic blockade of Cuba and its inclusion on the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism, and will be a space for coordinating actions against imperialism, fascism, and hegemony, in defense of peace, Palestine, and all just causes of the peoples”, she said.
Zamora Rodríguez stressed that the meeting will promote the strengthening of economic solidarity with Cuba as well as the coordination of actions against the media war unleashed against the Revolution.
Another essential issue will be the promotion of continental and intercontinental articulations to strengthen the work and solidarity projects in support of Cuba, she added.
She made special reference to the outstanding preparatory work carried out over many months by the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and its Forum Coordinating Committee, the second of its kind organized by our Mexican friends, more than a hundred of whom will attend the sessions.
The Cuban delegation will be composed of:
