Resumen Latinoamericano Launches an International Campaign for Support to Continue the Fight Against the Corporate Narrative

November 29, 2025

An Urgent Message to All Our Readers

In times of the advancing of a single global narrative that supports imperialism and the filthy rich now more than ever it is essential to defend alternative media.

We need all the solidarity and financial support we can get to ensure the continuity and growth of RESUMEN LATINOAMERICANO as it grows in many parts of the world.

Who we are

Resumen Latinoamericano and the Global South is a communications platform with more than 37 years of existence, belonging to the Popular Association of Latin American Culture and Information (APCIL). Our medias include: a monthly newspaper printed in several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean; two television programs; three radio programs broadcasted on more than 120 radio stations across the continent and in Spain; two digital newspapers, one by email and the other by WhatsApp; a news agency with 60 daily news items; and a documentary team that has produced several films.

Our Objectives as an Alternative Press

The most important aspect of this project is that, after more than three decades of continuous work, the editorial team remains committed to ensuring that popular and alternative communication does not retreat in the face of the economic power of the hegemonic press. This stems from our conviction that it is necessary to train popular communicators, as Resumen Latinoamericano has been doing to date.

Our History

The Platform is headed by its director and founder, Carlos Aznárez (with 50 years in the journalism profession, international political analyst, and internationalist activist) and María Torrellas (photojournalist, editor of the Platform’s radio and TV programs, and documentary filmmaker, with several works to her credit). They are joined by Graciela Ramírez, in charge of the Cuba Correspondence Office and an active militant in internationalist solidarity, Bill Hackwell who has produced Resumen Latinoamericano in the United States for the past 16 years, and Geraldina Colotti who is now producing a Resumen publication in Italy.

The rest of of core team is bringing news and analysis from their locations in Argentina, Peru, Cuba, Venezuela, Chile, the Basque Country, and Italy, in addition to a dozen correspondents in different countries including the Middle East.

WHY ARE WE LAUNCHING THIS URGENT CALL FOR FUNDS?

This brief explanation of who we are, aimed at those who do not know us and as a reminder to those who read our work on a daily basis, stems from an URGENT need to prevent our various media platforms, embedded in the struggle for a better world, from being set back by economic problems.

Added to this is the fact that in Argentina, where we had established the main base of Resumen Latinoamericano more than 20 years ago, the economic situation has become unsustainable, compounded by various episodes of political persecution. This forced us to move our headquarters abroad, leaving a team of correspondents in the country.
