Greetings from Resumen Latinoamericano to its Readers: for a 2026 Where We Stand With Those Who Struggle for Emancipation

By Carlos Aznares,  Resumen Latinoamericano on December 30, 2025

Dear comrades who have received our news services throughout 2025, we want to greet you and wish you that this coming year will be a little better than the one that is ending. Because we continue to believe in the struggle of the people and in the power of solidarity inherent in just causes, we nurture the hope of being able to stop this perverse wave driven by the extreme right and/or fascism. We will continue to oppose patriarchy, racism, and xenophobia with all our strength, but also everything that aims to destroy the achievements that humanity has built over time, at the cost of leaving a huge number of people imprisoned or killed in different battles.

2026 must be, as a necessary act of self-defense, the year to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH to those who are destroying our planet through criminal extractivism or imperialist wars like those that have always been waged in the heat of capitalism.

It is precisely in these days when a celebratory atmosphere is generated (most often linked to rampant consumerism) that we urge everyone not to forget the Palestinian people and to celebrate the vision of their glorious Resistance, which they have so vividly brought to the forefront, giving us the strength to confront our enemies in every corner of the world where we find ourselves. For those who resist the monstrosity of Zionism in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank, may their invaders be punished with eternal damnation.

In keeping with our internationalist commitment, let us reaffirm in 2026 our total solidarity with the brave people of Bolivarian Venezuela and their revolutionary leadership headed by President Nicolás Maduro. Despite that serial killer called Trump, his sanctions, blockade, and aggressive military encirclement, rebellious and Chavista Venezuela has not for a single day ceased to give us examples of dignity and courage in defending emancipatory ideals. For being a true reflection of the Revolution we dream of, we salute them and express our utter contempt for their enemies, including the lukewarm who tend to question this rich process from pseudo-progressive positions.

This same sentiment, amplified by their 67 years of genuine revolutionary experience, extends to our beloved socialist Cuba, which has continued to inspire us since Fidel, Raúl, Che, Vilma, and Celia descended from the Sierra Maestra and, in 1959, proclaimed the beginning of a new era for the rebellious people of Martí, Maceo, and Mariana Grajales. As an example of selfless internationalism, we pay tribute to the thousands of Cuban combatants, from those who gave their lives with weapons in hand to liberate African territory, or who went to fight wherever necessary, to those who later passed the torch to countless brigades of healthcare workers and literacy teachers, helping the most humble in any country that requested it. For their teachings and their profound contribution to the Greater Homeland, let there be a resounding round of applause for this beloved people of courage.

Likewise, we extend the same wishes to Sandinista Nicaragua for its ongoing struggle against the Yankee empire, and also to the Axis of Resistance, which is restoring hope for revolutionary unity in West Asia. Special mention goes to the example of internationalist coherence demonstrated by the people and political leadership of Yemen, who, along with the Lebanese resistance and the Islamic Republic of Iran, have embraced the Palestinian people.

Finally, we condemn a long and incomplete list of Latin American traitors and puppets of the empire and Zionism, such as Milei, Boric, Kast, Santiago Peña, Rodrigo Paz, José Munilo, and the Bolsonaro family. They are no different from that whole pack of Trump’s lapdogs, the European Union’s top brass.

Happy New Year, then, and let’s continue supporting Resumen Latinoamericano, which, in difficult circumstances, continues, as it has for the past 38 years, to swim against the tide from below and to the left.

When we raise a glass with family or friends, let us remember all those brothers and sisters in our ideals who are no longer with us, and those who suffer imprisonment or are persecuted for their struggle.

Cheers and Revolution!
