The Cuban chapter of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists, and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity categorically condemns the simultaneous and coordinated attack by the military forces of the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel against Iran.
This act of war is a serious expression of the historical practice of US imperialism and its main ally, Zionism, which have become the gravediggers of the international legal order, peace, and life.
The ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, the bombing of the inhabitants of Lebanon, the attack on Venezuela on January 3, the tightening of the siege against the Cuban people, the encouragement or tolerance of terrorist destabilization actions against countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the murders of migrants and human rights activists in the United States itself, are current manifestations of contempt for the lives of those of us who live in the global South.
Our chapter supports the statement made by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who pointed out that the attacks:
“Ruined diplomatic efforts on the nuclear issue for the second time and endangered regional and international peace and security. The effects already being felt in that troubled region are evidence of this.”
This serious aggression constitutes a threat that transcends all borders. Already in 2010, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro warned of the imminent danger of a nuclear conflict:
“(…) there is an imminent risk of war with the use of such weapons, and I have no doubt that an attack by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran would inevitably turn into a global nuclear conflict.”

It is essential that the international community, men and women of good will around the world, raise their voices through all means at their disposal to condemn this barbaric war, which in its first hours has already claimed the lives of 86 children in three schools that were bombed in Iran.
In the face of fascism, hatred, imperialism, and Zionism, in the face of the attempt to impose the law of the strongest, let us defend peace, solidarity, international law, and the right to life.
