The national mobilization began on Sunday, April 19, from Zulia, Táchira, and Amazonas, uniting various sectors of the country. With the departure of the first caravans from the border regions, Venezuela launched a national mobilization that links its struggle for independence with the current fight to lift sanctions.
On Sunday, April 19, Venezuela formally launched the Great National Pilgrimage for a Venezuela Without Sanctions and in Peace, coinciding with the 216th anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence. The initiative, launched by Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, began to unfold with the aim of uniting political, social, and religious sectors in a massive protest against unilateral coercive measures.
The mobilization is already traversing the country along its three main routes, which departed simultaneously from the states of Zulia, Táchira, and Amazonas to progressively integrate all regions. Under the slogan “Venezuela Flies Free,” the central objective of this campaign is to position the lifting of sanctions as an urgent humanitarian necessity to guarantee the well-being of Venezuelan families.
As these activities began, Deputy Timoteo Zambrano noted that this mobilization serves to show the reality of a country that desires peace, in the face of international narratives attempting to portray a non-existent conflict. The Legislative Branch joined this effort to portray the truth of the nation and defend the right to self-determination before the world.
For his part, the Coordinator of the Program for Peace and Coexistence, Ernesto Villegas, emphasized that the people have united as one voice to demand an end to the blockade that violates citizens’ rights. Likewise, Venezuelan youth were mobilized through leaders such as Génesis Garvett, who stressed that the new generations are responsible for carrying this message of national strength and dignity.
The traveling pilgrimage is scheduled to continue over the next two weeks, culminating on May 1 in the country’s capital, coinciding with International Workers’ Day. Authorities hope this massive march will serve as a unified call to demand respect for economic freedoms and ensure unrestricted access to medicines and essential services.
Finally, the organization has reaffirmed the peaceful and symbolic nature of the demonstrations already underway, which are being constantly monitored by the public media. This major national event is emerging as an exercise in unity that seeks to set aside partisan differences in favor of the sovereignty and economic stability of the Venezuelan state.
